some updates

first off on the list?
a fabulous first weekend of November.
good boy henry. a rarity
saturday was a beautiful day- the perfect fall weather- so i decided to enjoy it and trim our neglected overgrown hedge. i did this all by hand and i loved every minute. it caused me to slow down and just enjoy. the dogs were good boys and nicely played in the yard while i trimmed. (i definitely felt sore the next day though... ha ha)

did i mention the dogs love me? well they do. everywhere i go they follow. ha ha. (it makes it nice knowing they won't run away from me)

notice the trimmed hedge. (and my lazy job of cleaning up the side of the hedge that is in my yard....)

second. ill start with last night.
jon and i went on a movie date to wreck it ralph. jonboy LOVES the animated movies. it cracks me up. (most recent movie on repeat in our home? flushed away.) and despite my lack of enthusiasm toward wreck it ralph, i actually quite enjoyed myself. had to hold back a few tears even.
as we pulled up into our driveway however, i got caught up again in a bit of emotion. just grateful for what i have. mainly jon. (probably because of the thankfulness of the month and the fact that we just celebrated our 2nd anniversary)

next?
jon leaves for his fifth and FINAL hunting trip tomorrow. YAHOO!
and honestly, it's about time i write something good and unselfish about hunting. ha ha.
i could not imagine jon without hunting. and i don't want to. he loves it. it is a part of jon-barker-the-farmer-kid(name he called himself as a child)
he loves the outdoors. he loves wildlife. some of jon's most fond memories come from horseback under the stars. not only that, but he gets to spend time with his dad and brothers. time that isn't considered work. and this particular hunt- lasting a week and a half(thumbs down)- is a special hunt. he drew out -whatever that means- so he now gets to hunt the BIG guys in a special area. he is so excited!(thumbs up) and i am happy for him (just as long as he gets home in time for my birthday. ha ha)
okay, so, at least i tried my best not to be selfish....

last week.
jon's footing slipped as he jumped onto a dock at work.... and he put a nice little hole in his shin. thanks dad for stitching him up! i got to document the whole thing. :)

school stuff.
for my typography class we are designing a book cover for a student literary/art journal that weber state university issues. they are holding a contest and this year they have a theme of water. i went in quite a different direction than the rest of my class seemed to. (that'll either hurt or help me i guess.) i focused on the role that our wasatch mountains play in providing our valley with water. and i also woodcut my design... not my most favorite thing i have ever done... but here it is.

still figuring out the colors...

few other tid bits.
I've had the chance to laugh at myself a few times recently. first off...
i totally ate part of my fortune. (jon likes his chinese and he thought this was the most hilarious thing to ever happen)

and it wasn't even a cool fortune.....

today at work i told a patient that we would see them "around 2:30 o'clock-ish."

awesome.

last thing.
i tried mowing over our NASTY lawn mushrooms and killed the lawn mower. jon had to finish the job for me.

fail.

another last thing.

since jon is leaving soon, i better express how grateful i am for this big black buddy of mine. he keeps me company.

got to love chuck.
