"One of the great tragedies of life, it seems to me, is when a person classifies himself as someone who has no talents or gifts. When in disgust or discouragement, we allow ourselves to reach depressive levels of despair because of our demeaning self-appraisal, it is a sad day for us and a sad day in the eyes of God. For us to conclude that we have no gifts when we judge ourselves by stature, intelligence, grade-point average, wealth, power, position, or external appearance is not only unfair, but unreasonable...
"God has given each of us one or more special talents. ... It is up to us to search for and build the gifts that God has given. We must remember that each of us is made in the image of God, that there are no unimportant persons. Everyone matters to God and to his fellowmen."
this quote is always a good pick me up.... it's important to remember. And has been a favorite of mine.
Although the first part of the quote has applied with a lot of meaning to me in my life, i want to focus more on the second part.
Something i need to work on a little more is developing those talents... even though lazy is often times more appropriate, i choose to call myself laid back.
i take the laid back approach to my more obvious talents, and usually just stand in awe of those who's talents are my weaknesses.
Heber j. Grant took this approach: "That which we persist in doing becomes easier for us to do; not that the nature of the thing is changed, but that our power to do is increased"
lets all continue to have faith to build upon and share our talents (as well as weaknesses).
